My Car Keys Canada began because one dealership quote didn't add up — and turned into Windsor's in-shop car key specialist, featured in national automotive press for saving drivers and dealers time and money.
How MyCarKeys started
In 2010 I lost the keys to my Toyota Camry. The dealership told me I'd wait almost two hours for a new set — and pay $225 for a basic non-remote head key. I thought there had to be a faster, fairer way.
I took locksmith courses, combined them with my computer background and my passion for cars, and started solving the problem properly: cutting and programming keys the way the car expects them, without the dealership queue. That single lost key became My Car Keys Canada — now at 3021 Dougall Ave in Windsor.

The technology
Every transponder chip holds a unique cryptographic code. Most people think the remote fob is what starts the car, but it's actually the small chip — a glass tube or chip embedded in the plastic key head or inside the remote board — that the car needs to see before the engine will run.
That code can't be read or registered without the proper equipment. We use professional key machines and dealer-level OEM tools and software, with NASTF-authorized access to manufacturer security data, to cut and register the chip correctly — then test every function at your car.
Why we charge less
On many cars, if every key is lost, a dealer may replace the whole ECU (the car's computer) just to accept new keys — which is why some quotes run from $500 to $4,000.
We resolve most of those same jobs by configuring the original ECU's chip to accept new keys, using dealer-level OEM tools and software with secure OEM access. Same result — your car starts — for significantly less. And every year we add more OEM equipment and procedures, so the list of cars we can help keeps growing.
